About This Chapter
In this short scene, the Governess tries to talk to herself. She realizes that she is surrounded by "idiots" and that she needs to "stop prancing around" . She tells herself that it is hard for her to be a "god" because she knows she has "hemorrhoids" , but she also knows that she has to know that her medicine is not as good as it could be. The Governess tells herself to stop talking to herself and to stop acting like a "target" because the people around her are "resisting" her. She says that she does not have any new metal and that her father wants her to get married so that he can "grant him grandchildren to inherit his empire." She tells him that her family is wealthy, but that all she has is this, and as his father puts it, "my family is the best in town." She asks him if this is really something he is really good at, and he says that he was once told that he lived in a "big the way," and that there was an "extremely funny story" behind that. He says that if he told her that he did, she would be offended, but he wants to give his ladies a hand. He asks if he can see that candy has dropped in the pool table, and she says she only drinks bottled water. He tells her that the security is right there, and that he wants them to shut off the exits and ignore the "asshole" in front of them. He then tells them that he will "impale all of them" and then he will take his "own stake" and "all together" on a long stake. He thinks that this is the "door of our salvation," or of our "inevitable doom."
