In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist wants to become a secret agent, but he doesn't know exactly what he wants to do with his life. He wants to be a "fashionable" person. He's not sure how to put it, though, because he's never really wanted to be anything other than a fashionable person. In fact, he'd like to be one of the "demoniac cultists" who pursues "beauty and fashion" . But, he says, if you don't have the education to be an agent, it's best to practice your writing skills and pass on the knowledge to someone else.
