In this short scene, Ouyang Yuqing and her son, Lele, tell their story. Lele's father, wangming, is a gambler who gambled away the family's wealth. Soon after the marriage, he lost all of his money and was forced to divorce his wife. The judge granted custody of Lele to her father, but he used Lele as leverage to extort money from her mother. When Lele begs her father to join them for dinner, he refuses, saying that he does not want to be her father.
