About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator and the other characters discuss the state of affairs in New York City. They're in the middle of a game between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees lead the Dodgers by three runs with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but the Dodgers have a chance to tie the game when they score a run in the top of the 10th. The two men decide to stop the Yankees' rally, but they're interrupted by the sound of a single being hit for a triple. The narrator is impressed by the play, and he tells the other players that the Yankees are about to run out of outs. He tells them that he'll need to use his studio later that afternoon, and they agree to meet that afternoon.
