About This Chapter
The narrator and his wife are on their honeymoon in Morocco. They've just arrived in the city of chaouen, and the narrator describes it as a "blue city" with a "cooler viewer feel" . He also notes that cats are "sacred animals" in Morocco, so they're not as scary as animals in India. They take a boat ride to get to the city, which takes three hours. The narrator is impressed with the food and the food's name. He's also impressed by the way the steam fogs up his glasses. He thinks it's pretty funny that the name of the food is "couscous" , which means "seafood." The narrator's wife thinks the soup is "sexy," but she doesn't know if this is illegal or not. She's not sure if they should have come to Morocco on vacation, but she's glad they did. She thinks the city is "a bed-made-for-a-king" and that the ceilings are "so high" that you can't really stay in them. She also thinks that the smell of mint will make her feel better, but the smell isn't quite as strong as she expected. She and her husband plan a big party the next day, so he came pick them up at their hotel and took them by car for nine hours. After that, they went on a camel ride.
