About This Chapter
Sook Kim tells the story of how he came to be at the palace, and how he was struck by a lightening bolt. He tells the princess that she should come inside immediately, because the storm is getting colder. The princess asks why the king is doing this, and the king tells her that he is worried that she might catch a cold. He says that the princess is in her bed with a fever, so he thinks it best that the palace officials be allowed in first. He asks the princess if she knows the reason why she keeps saying that she has different life, and she tells him that she had gone to the shrine of chigung and said that she is not the princess and wants to go back home. The king says that there is no love lost between her and her family, and he knows this too, as the princess has been reluctant to visit her father since she first arrived in the palace. She never smiled at him, he says, and never once has she smiled at the princess. He wonders how a prince who cannot manage his household can manage a whole nation. He praises the king's high state councillors for their hard work in overthrowing the prince.
