In this short scene, Kim Young-sung tells the audience that he has promised his daughter that he will take care of her no matter what happens to her. He tells her that his son will become the next king of Joseon and that she should not get pregnany. He also tells her about the cherry trees in the palace grounds. He asks her if she is finished with her studies, and she tells him that she is not sure she will be able to finish her studies any time soon. He then asks her about her father, who does not look at her face. He says that he is her father and that he means to have her health back before she got married. Kim says that her father is not even her real father, but that she puts the medicine in her box. Kim asks her mother why she is telling her not to go abroad to study for language training. She says that money is tight right now and she bought her brother a car. She asks her father to come back in and spend some time with her.
