The narrator tells us that he's going to deliver a letter to the teacher's office. He's also going to borrow money from some friends. He asks his mom to lend him some money so that he can buy some new clothes. He tells her that he still feels lonely because he hasn't had any friends for a long time. She tells him that she's noticed that he and his friends are spending money on things they don't need. She asks him to lend her some more money so she can buy something new. He says that he used his money to buy some clothes, but now he is so hungry that he needs more money. She says that she and her friends are only friends with her because her family has so much money. He doesn't understand why she would want to share in the wealth of her rich family. The narrator says that his family is rich because they have a lot of land. He adds that his friends shouldn't be friends with him because his family has too much money to share with them. He then tells his mom that she has hurt his feeuns by not lending him money.
