Finally, they decide to use a flash-bang signal to send a signal from the boat to the other side of the ocean. This is a great idea, because if they lose their buddy, they can use the signal to go back to the boat. The men are so happy to be back in the water that they start talking about the sea, which they think is calm before a storm. It's like the sea calms before the storm, which is why it's so calm. They talk about the red lionfish that they saw in the distance. The red lion fish is poisonous, so it can kill you if you touch it.
