The narrator tells the girl that she has come to see her, but that Hamar has just come to check on her. The girl tells the narrator that someone else came after Hamar asked her out, and she can't figure out why he would want to ask her out. The narrator says that the more genuine the man is, the more forthcoming he will be about his feelings for someone. She says that she's been thinking about it all this time, and that's why she doesn't want to tell Hamar that she likes him.
