This chapter opens with a series of questions and answers from Fumio about the events of the previous day. He asks who committed the crime, what happened, and why they would do such a thing to him. Fumio's first question is, "Who did this?" Then he asks, "Did they assault you?" Then, "What did they do?" and finally, "Let's do it with drugs" . He wonders if the police will test him for drugs and if they'll arrest him for it. He's worried that if he tells the cops that they're going to kill his entire family, they might arrest him and then he'll be arrested and put in jail. He doesn't understand why anyone would do this to him, especially since they didn't commit any crime. He apologizes, saying that he's sorry, but he'd like to think that it's his fault. He tells Fumio that he has to deal with a terrible experience today, and that he made it back to his family's house safely. He promises to keep him safe
