In this chapter, the narrator laments his family's decision to move into their new house. He laments the fact that they have to share a room with a family of "hobsons" . He also laments that his father's moodiness has made it impossible for him to share the house with his daughter. The narrator then launches into a long speech about how he and his family are meant to live "in our hole" , and that they need to get a second opinion from a doctor about their condition.
