In this short scene, the Governess complains to her daughter about her inability to cope with her father's request to move out of the house. The Governess tells the girl that she has to get the Board of Education's approval before she can move in, and that she needs to lose some weight to do so. She tells her that she knows her father is under a lot of stress, and she wants to cut back on it. The girl tells her father that he is the one who is getting fat and needs to get in shape. She also tells him that her teacher got on her case about all sorts of stuff, and now she is going to have to study all day to be official of the move.
