The narrator says that he thought he'd come to say hello to tachiban, but he sees that the guy is walking with another guy. He wonders if irohas been getting more cake, and the narrator thinks it's because the guy has been looking for her for a long time. He asks the peasant to bring him some cake. The peasant says that the cake belongs to his older brother, who's famous at the school. He says he doesn't think the cake is from the guy, but that it belongs to sachiban. He tells the peasant that he won't let anyone hurt his friend, and that if he makes her cry, he will never forgive him.
