About This Chapter
The narrator asks Mutsumi what's been going on. He tells him that he's come to find out what Tsumi really thinks of him. He also tells her that she shouldn't have come to see him if she doesn't want to hear what he has to say. The narrator says that she's sorry, but that she needs time to herself to think things over. He says that he wants her to think about what she wants to say, not what he wants to hear. He asks her if she'd rather be with him or with someone else. She says that's the way it is. She wants to be with her boyfriend, but she can't be with someone who's not her boyfriend. She's going to have to explain it to him, she says, and she'll have to tell him what she thinks. She also says that if she had to choose between her boyfriend and her friend, she would choose the one she loves the most. But if she were to be told to forget her friend , that would be impossible, because she loves both of them, but if she was told to give up her favorite, she wouldn't even be able to say that she loves either of them. She has a fever and is dying the next day, so she needs to go to her friend and tell her what happened. She tells him to hold on to his eye and not rub it.
