In this chapter, the Underground Man asks which one of his friends should stop smoking, stop dressing, and stop partying. He's not sure which one he wants, but he's sure that the one who's having fun in the underground is the one he'd rather be hanging out with. He wants to know if the guy is having a good time, or if he just wants to get away. The Underground Man tells him that if he wants to hang out, he should just hang out with him.
