In this chapter, Roxane and her father discuss the recent events in the city. Roxane explains that she has had a dream in which she has been reborn as a daughter of the evil duke and has to win the prince back. She tells Roxane that the devil character in the dream looks just like her, and that he has been using the money he has made from his part-time job to make the character like her. He tells her that she is nothing but a shallow, lowborn, human girl. She says that he is related by blood and that his eyes are the same way they felt when they were young. She adds that she had never intended for them to speak to each other, but now that they have, she realizes that they are friends. He explains that he had never meant anything to her at first, but that she now faces complex issues. He says she is special because she is surrounded by "weirdo" women, and no magic that uses her average "ness" to rule over the monster being normal makes her special. He adds that he will protect her until she is dead.
