This chapter opens with a flashback to a time before the events of the previous chapter. The narrator is a little older than the rest of the characters, and he's going to have to marry someone for the first time. He wants to make sure that the man he chooses is the one to make him happy, but he also wants the man to be someone who will make him happier than he is. The man is smirking at him, and the narrator doesn't want to hear it. He tells the man that he thinks of him as his son, and that he wants him to protect the princess for life, as his father would protect his own son. He's sorry, but the man can't leave, because his father didn't really abandon him. After all, he started his own business, and even if he couldn't be your brother, his father still looked after him as a family.
