In the garden, a loquat tree is in full bloom. Azai asks the princess if she would like to eat some of the fruit. The princess says that she doesn't, but that she likes to see her eat them. She tells Azai that she has picked some for her, and Azai says that he's sorry that he didn't ask her first. He asks her if she likes loquats, and she says yes. He tells her to eat as many as she likes, and then he asks her to tell him what's wrong with her. She says she's not feeling well, and he says he'll use his powers of persuasion to get her to marry him.
