"The First to Satisfy" The narrator tells us that the first person to "squeal" will do whatever is asked of him. He's talking about Em'ly, who's trying to figure out what she's going to do for a date on Saturday. She doesn't know what to do with herself, so she tries to get Em to tell her what's up, but she can't figure out a way to get him to stop fidgeting. The narrator then tells Em that she looks different than usual, and that she'll be late for their date. She wants to know where they're going to be, and she wants to have snacks in her back pack. She's disgusted that Em isn't there, and wants to be alone with him. Em says that she promised to come to the ranch at least once, and he promised to have fun with her today. He tells her to have a little snack with him, and then he tells her that they'll have a dog show with him and his dog, and Em wants to play with the dogs, too. She squeezes and squeezes, and the dog starts to chatter. She says that the dogs are so cute that she hopes Em'll not hurt her, but Em's not having any of it. The dog chatters about how cute the food is, and how much she loves it. Em tells the dog that she loves the food, too, because it's so different from the food she used to make.
