In this short scene, we get a glimpse into the mind of the Governess's daughter. The Governess is trying to get her to cough up some phlegm, but she can't seem to get it to stop. She's worried that her father will die if she doesn't cough up the phlegm. She tells him that if he hadn't come to her father's rescue, she'd have killed him. He's not going to die, she says, because he risked his life for her.
