Asuka tells Ruri that she can do better than him, and Ruri says she can't, because she's afraid she'll turn into a demon one day. Asuka says he's duty-bound to take the lives on the battlefield, while Ruri's is to save the ones he doesn't have to take. Ruri is sad that she didn't tear up for Ruri, but she knows she wouldn't be able to do anything about it if she wept over the dead.
