In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, a young man named Oliver. He is a student at the pine court, and he and his friends are hanging out in the bamboo court. Oliver tells us that he is dreaming that he and the other students are looking at each other in the same way. He says that he wants to talk to the girls, but he is afraid that they will kill him if he does not talk to them. Oliver asks if he can give him a bouquet of flowers, but the girl says that it is against the law to give flowers to people who have been convicted of a crime.
