It's midnight, and the door bell is ringing. The narrator is all, "What's up with the bell?" . He's been waiting all day for the bell to ring, but it doesn't. He can't figure out why it's bothering him so much, and he's worried about what's going to happen to his reputation when he leaves for work the next morning.
