One of the knights tells the others that he's going to die if they don't figure out what's wrong with the town before they go inside. He's not sure if they should wait outside or go inside, but he says he'll die if there's a bunch of "roachs" in the town. The other knights agree with him, but they're not sure what to do with themselves. They're going to have to figure out how to get out of the town, they say, because the "ouds" are bad. The ouds eat livestock and grain, and they devour humans. The knights are worried that they've run out of food, and that they might have run into a "grimba" . They decide to go ahead and look for the grimba, even though it's too late.
