This chapter opens with a description of the fog, which has become so thick that it's difficult to see. The fog is so thick, in fact, that it makes it impossible for the dragons to breathe. The smell of the enemy's attack is so strong that the fog makes it difficult for the knights to see the enemy. The knight who has been hiding on the lookout deck, the sorceress, comes out of the shadows and tells the knight that the smell is so bad that he can't breathe. He tells her to get the cat for him, and the knight goes off to find the cat.
