The narrator is exhausted from the day's events. He wonders if he will be able to go to school or university. He notices that the other students are also going to school, too, and wonders if they are all going to university as well. He also notices that some of them are going to work. The narrator wonders if it would be possible for them all to be so free spirited that they could never do something they could not do before. He then notices that a distant cousin of his is on his way to visit the school. He asks the narrator what he should do while he is in class, and the narrator tells him that they should take turns guiding the man around.
