In this chapter, we learn that the father of Linjiang has been killed by one of the mechanical guards, and that the other guards are trying to kill Linjiang in order to capture the bronze ostrich. We learn that Linjiang's father was killed by a guard who wanted to kill him, but Linjiang was able to hold his ground. The other guards, however, were able to kill the commander of the guards, who was Linjiang, and all the guards have fallen into a state of rage. The father of the man who killed Linjiang tells us that he is still not sure who killed him. He is sure that it was the other guard, but he does not know who it is. Linjiang is still alive, and he is happy that his son is alive.
