This chapter opens with the sound of a brother's voice. It's his older brother, who's just woken up. He's worried that his younger brother has died. He begs his brother to wake up and take care of him. The elder brother, however, doesn't want to leave him alone. He tells his brother not to worry, because he's going to be his junior brother in a few years. The older brother introduces his new son, who is named lucao. He says that he'll protect his brother in the future. He also tells his older sister that he can finally go to town, and that he wants to buy some new clothes. The senior sister tells him that he looks like a "lesser and less cute" son. She tells him to go away and save his sister. He won't go, she says, because she's already dead.
