This chapter opens with a flashback to a year ago, when the protagonist of this chapter was a young lieutenant in the army of the Republic of the Garibbean. He is now a senior officer in the Union's front-line command, and he has just received a report that the Union has captured the headquarters of the General of the Union. The protagonist is overjoyed to hear that the General has been killed. He then turns to the protagonist's main topic: the protagonist wants to know why the protagonist would want to kill the General. He asks the protagonist to invite the General out, and the protagonist tells him that he is the one worthy of his attention. He also tells the protagonist that the protagonist has been locked up in the prison for the past few days because of the news about the fatso. He begs the protagonist not to eat the food brought for him by the teacher, but the protagonist refuses, saying that he has not lost any weight.
