In this chapter, the students discuss the importance of cultivating one's foundation. They discuss how Lin Yang, a level three cultivator and counselor for freshmen, has helped many students pass their placement exams. The students wonder if Lin Yang is "cheating in life" and wonder if they should join the research team to study the foundations of other students. They wonder if there is a bad signal that Lin Yang has helped students cheat in life. Lin Yang tells the students that he gave them free advice, and when they were impressed, they rushed to pay for more advice from him. He says that the students should not wait for him to give them more advice, as he appears to have already helped everyone who has not cultivated their foundation.
