About This Chapter
In this chapter, the monster explains that he has always been a creature of the night. His mother told him that she was attacked during her pregnancy by a coyote, but the tribe believed it to be the man who was her true father. They treated her as if she were a plague-ridden creature, but she never attacked anyone. She decided to leave the tribe and travel to Europe, where she was captured by the simons soldiers. Dagmar changed her treatment, and she was able once again to regain her powers. She tells him that it is her duty to exterminate the monsters, but that she did not free demian or help him. She says that she will never speak to him again, but tells him to always remember that she loves him.
