In this chapter, we learn that Dr. Nemo's mother named him "Cecelia" after the Latin word for blind. She's mad at the administration for weakening fuel economy standards, rolling back climate change efforts, and attacking her "gouging" . Nemo tells us that he's just arrived at the ship, and that everyone thanks him for the flowers that were delivered to their rooms. He says that the attacks seem to be random and well coordinated, but that maybe there are other people like him who are also "exploded," like him. He's glad to be here, because he needs to figure out who's going to help after he takes care of someone unconscious. He doesn't want to become infected, but he also wants to make sure that everyone has what they need. He wants to know if the "cowards" who have been killing innocent people and attacking his team are responsible for the attacks. Nemo says that he left his laptop in the car, and he appreciates the sentiment of the people who have grown on him, like his mother. He knows that it'll be dangerous for Nemo to go back home, so he decides to set up a special fund to reconfigure the ship.
