In this chapter, we learn that Celia is a doctor in the Central African Republic. She used to work for doctors without borders, who were afraid of being killed if they didn't comply with the demands of the local authorities. She was also working with a group of armed men who threatened to kill her and her colleagues if they did not comply with their demands. Celia was able to convince the men that their friend's life depended on her protecting him, and that she would not do anything unless he allowed her to finish treating both patients first. Celia is now a doctor herself, and she has a lot of experience dealing with people who are smarter than she is. She is also very experienced in dealing with difficult situations, like dealing with a patient who has multiple fractures after jumping from a three story building to escape from "alien angels". Celia is also experienced dealing with "gardener's intelligence" , which is the ability to distinguish between different types of people and situations. She has also dealt with patients who have presented with multiple fractures, including an emory who had to jump off the third story of a building and had to have a craniectomy to clear the way for him to get to the other side of the building.
