About This Chapter
The scene opens with a conversation between a young man and a woman in a coffee shop. The young man asks the woman if she is cold, and the woman replies that she is, since she is dressed in a coat. The man asks if the woman is in love with him, and she replies that they may not be, but that their relationship is more intimate than their love for one another. He asks her if she would like to join him in the coffee shop, but she says that she would rather go home and wait for the weather to clear up. She then asks the young man if he is feeling well, and he replies that he is. He then asks her what she is doing there, and when she says she is wearing a coat, he says she must be feeling pretty pleased with herself for dressing so well in the cold weather. He tells her that she should feel proud of herself for being dressed so well, since he is wearing one too. She asks him if he would be interested in joining her in the shop, and then she asks him what he is talking about. He says he is listening to her body whisper, and that she seems to be having an affair with him. She tells him that he should not worry about catching a cold, as she is too intimate with him to do so, but he should take care to not to catch one himself. She says that he seems to work late at night, and it is rude of him to call her after hours, as it is spring.
