In this chapter, the narrator continues his journal entry, which he has titled Beauty's Diary. He tells us that he and his friend, kumano, are going to have a meal at a diner. The narrator asks the manager if he's ever wanted to see a movie, and the manager says he'd like to watch a different movie from the one the narrator just watched. He also tells the narrator that he used to read about how to make movies when he was a student at the university, and that he always wanted to be a famous director. He asks the narrator if he ever thought about being a director, and he says he doesn't have the skills to be one. He then asks if the narrator has shot a movie with the same equipment as the one he just watched, and she says yes. He says he wouldn't even cut the scene if he were a director.
