"You at the pant" , the narrator tells us, is the first time he's ever been scared of seeing Mr. Roberts again. He's afraid that he'll fall in love with him again, and that he won't be able to keep his mind off of him anymore. He tells us that it's a shame that he can't keep his thoughts to himself, because he loves her so much. She tells him that she's going to take him to bed, but that she still doesn't have enough strength in her legs to carry him back to her apartment, so she'll carry him to the office instead.
