The next morning, Codo wakes up in the middle of the night. He's worried about what he's going to do with his life now that he has to live with a murderous gangster. He wants to go back to work, even though he knows that he'll never be able to earn enough money to support himself. He asks the gangster where he can get a job scrubbing counters. The gangster tells him to go to his bank and transfer his salary to his new bank account. He also tells Codo that he can use the money to buy food for himself and his family. Codo is all, "I'm not going to cry" . He doesn't want to be a "brat" , he just wants to help his father.
