The chapter opens with a soliloquy by a "sexless wife" . She complains that she's bored with her sex life and wishes she had more time to enjoy it. She wants to "take off my stock of ings" , but her husband won't let her do it. He tells her that she shouldn't have sex with someone who's already had sex with her before, because that would be "unless you had boozefirst . . toss !" . The scene ends with a "meet-ing" in a room that's been "occupied" by someone else.
