The scene opens with a flashback to three days earlier, when the two of them were engaged in a sexual relationship. Akira is wearing a kimono that she has just purchased for her first visit to a shrine. She asks the store employee to help her put on the kimono, but the man refuses to do so, saying that it is too heavy and that they will not be able to perform the ceremony in the traditional way. The two argue about whether or not they should go to the shrine, and Akira says that she will go to a different place where they can be alone. She then asks the man to kiss her, but he refuses, saying he will make the kimono stronger by kissing her.
