The scene opens with a loud boom. It's the middle of the night, and the narrator is drunk. He's hanging out with some other teachers, and he's worried that they're going to get into a fight. He asks one of the teachers if she has a girl friend, and she says no. The teacher says that she doesn't have one, but that she's going to have one soon. The narrator asks the teacher if he has a scratch on his finger, and that's when the teacher says he'll have to rub it on the scratch to make sure it's not a scratch, and then he says he will have to push the scratch into the scratch so it'll look like a scratch. He then says he wants to join the "drama club" , which is a group of teachers who go to a festival every year to watch the fireworks. This year, he says, some teachers are there, and they've been talking about the fireworks, too, but the narrator can't figure out what's been going on.
