About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the monster is using wax to cut off the leg of his servant. The monster's father is horrified at the idea of cutting off his son's leg, but he assures his son that he will bring him out of this nightmare. He tells the monster that he has come to this world with sin and spent his whole life in redemption. Only the purest souls will be able to go to heaven, and the only way for them to do so is if they are willing to be forgiven. He asks the monster if he wants to die with the other fools in this world, but the monster replies that he does not want to die, but rather arrange a way for himself to survive. He explains that before he woke up from his nightmare, he had a dream in which he grew wings and flew to heaven. However, the distance between heaven and this nightmare kept growing and growing. Finally, he realizes that he still has not yet completed his redemption on his sins, so let him redeem himself this time.
