This chapter opens with a flashback to a time when the two of them were children, and one of the children was bitten by a wild dog. The other child was killed by the dog, but the other child survived. The child tells the story of the dog's bite, and how the dog tried to kill him, but he did not want to kill the dog because he was afraid of what the dog would do to him.
