In this chapter, we learn that Hiroshi has come to visit Roxane. Hiroshi asks Roxane if she is afraid of thunder or crying, and she says she is, and then she asks him why he enjoys watching others cry. He says he does so because he wants to see her cry, as if she can see his pain inside her heart. When Hiroshi sees that Roxane is crying, he becomes so much like her that he breaks down in a fit of hysteria.
