The scene opens with Euan and his lady-in-waiting waiting for the ball to begin. Euan tells the lady that he has to go to the ball, and she tells him to have a drink of the wine. He tells her that the ball is coming soon, and that he will try on the dress for it. She tells him that she is glad that he likes the ball so much, because he is in an awkward position because the Queen of Blue Cloud has the most power. She then tells Euan that the Queen's son, zorsi, has not yet arrived at the ball. The scene ends with the sound of a lion's roar, and Euan realizes that it is a lion. He runs to get out of the way of the lion, who is about to attack him.
