Seong-nam wakes up in the middle of the night. He's afraid that he and his companions have been murdered. He realizes that they've left the body in the bushes because they don't want the police to find the killer. He also realizes that the body's going to decay quickly in the current weather. He wonders if it's him, or someone else, who's the murderer. The others are convinced that he killed the caretaker, but he didn't run away because the road was blocked by a massive landslide. They're accusing him of being the murderer because he injured the caretaker's ribs when he ran away, and they need to catch the murderer so they can't get blamed for the murders. He wakes up and realizes that he has fallen asleep in the mountains. He feels like his head is about to crack, and he wonders where he is.
