Alek's breathing is getting worse. He's been buried underground for three years, and his body hasn't been able to adjust to this new life. The lieutenant tells Alek that he's crazy. He wants to know what's going on. He asks if Alek has ever seen a person alive after having his neck artery cut off. Alek doesn't believe him, and the lieutenant tells him that they're here to kill him. Alek is so angry that he threatens to beat the lieutenant.
