In this chapter, we learn that Shu'an's father, the Ming Emperor, is still alive and well. He's been in prison for a long time, but he's still sharp and healthy. Shu asks his father if he is happy to have finally met his brother after so long a time in prison. Shu says that he was insulted many times by his father, and now he owes him a favor. Shu tells his father that the meridians in the mountains are all messed up with blood and retrograde qi, and that he can't find the jade lotus in half of a month. Shu's afraid that his father won't know the truth about his mother's seed, so he has a plan. He tells Shu that he has to go to the xiaotang mountain in order to get the lotus. He says that if he doesn't go, the power from the seed will "invad" his limbs, and he can no longer be cured. Shu wants to know where her father is, but Shu says he'll wait for three days.
