Back at the palace, Gu tells Ling rong that he will return the next morning and resume the court. He tells the minister that the border between the two countries is in danger and that none of them have a countermeasure. The minister informs Gu that the right minister's daughter has been taken to the mansion of the former yong emperor. Gu tells the general that the jade seal still remains in the palace. The general tells Gu that he poisoned the water, but Gu tells him to tell him where the seal is. Gu says that the former emperor was an ignorant, incompetent man, who murdered his father, his younger brother, and behaved tyrannically.
