The two men apologize to the emperor and ask him to punish them as he sees fit. Mr. li says that they should stay at the family's estate in the city and send a letter asking the emperor to send his troops to protect them. He also says that he'd like to stay overnight and escort the family there for the night. He asks if the emperor trusts him, and the emperor says no. The men leave to talk.
